How to register and get into Canton Fair
To enter Canton Fair as an overseas buyer you need a buyer badge. Do not confuse it with a visa, an organiser invitation, or a hotel booking confirmation: these are separate documents that solve different problems.

For a new registration, create an account in the official Buyer Service System, fill in personal and company details, upload the required documents, and apply for a badge. After review, save your pre-registration confirmation and bring it with your passport. For the 140th session, a new overseas buyer’s first badge is often free at the designated pickup point if application conditions are met; verify current requirements before you travel.
If you have collected a badge before, log into your account early, check passport validity, and update company details. Do not assume an old badge will work in every case: reuse, replacement, and lost-badge rules are worth confirming in advance.
Visa, visa-free entry, and invitation
A Canton Fair badge does not grant entry into China. First confirm that your entry method matches current rules for your nationality, trip length, and purpose.
Russian citizens often qualify for visa-free entry on an ordinary passport for stays of up to 30 days for business, tourism, transit, and some other purposes (confirm how long the policy remains in force before buying tickets). Entry rules, how “business purpose” is interpreted, and carrier requirements can change — before departure, check with the Chinese consulate, your airline, and official border sources.
A Canton Fair invitation may be needed for a visa application. It does not replace buyer registration or the badge required to enter the fair.
Where to collect the badge
Common pickup points often include Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou South Railway Station, the Pazhou passenger terminal, selected hotels, and the Canton Fair office in Hong Kong. Re-check the exact list, opening hours, services, and document checklist the day before you travel: these details change from session to session.
In practice it is safer to finish pre-registration before the trip, keep confirmations on your phone and offline, and collect the badge with a time buffer. Do not schedule a critical supplier meeting for the first morning if you still need to pick up your pass.
Getting there and where to stay
Not “best hotels” — choose by working scenario:
- First arrival with luggage — taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
- Daily trips without heavy bags — metro.
- Hotel near Pazhou — if early meetings and recovery between fair days matter.
- Hotel farther from the complex — if budget is critical, but you need spare travel time.
- Via Hong Kong — only if it is clearly better on fares, connections, or visa conditions.
Getting to Canton Fair Complex
The exhibition complex is in Pazhou, Haizhu, at No. 382 Yuejiang Zhong Road, Guangzhou. Autumn session hours are stated as 09:30–18:00.
From Baiyun Airport

A taxi from Baiyun Airport to the complex usually takes 45–60 minutes and may cost roughly CNY 150–200; metro is about CNY 7–10 but needs transfers. Treat these figures as guides and re-check closer to travel.
For Zone A, Xingangdong station is usually convenient; for Zones B and C, Pazhou. Before you leave, check the pavilion and zone for your exhibitor — that can save 20–30 minutes of walking inside the complex.
Field note: getting back to the hotel after closing
Last year in Guangzhou, with the surge of foreign visitors at Canton Fair, it was practically impossible to book a ride-hail from the exhibition complex at closing time, when most guests leave at once. You end up flagging a taxi on the street.
Watch the fare. If your hotel is within about 5–7 km, expect roughly CNY 50, up to CNY 100. If someone quotes CNY 200–300 for that short hop — refuse and find another car, or take the metro.
If you fly via Hong Kong
A Hong Kong routing makes sense when it is clearly better on flight price, connection, or schedule. The most practical ground option is the high-speed train from Hong Kong West Kowloon to Guangzhou South, then metro to Pazhou. Book train tickets early, especially on the eve of each phase.
Flight, bus, and ferry can work as alternatives, but they depend more on schedules, border control, luggage, and exact arrival points. Do not build your plan around a ferry until you confirm the sailing runs on your dates.
Where to stay: pick a working setup, not a hotel name
During Canton Fair, hotels near Pazhou usually rise in price and availability drops fast. Some hotels may offer a transfer to the complex, but the service depends on dates, booking, and schedule — do not treat it as guaranteed without direct confirmation from the hotel.

Canton Fair gives contact density, not a ready shipment “off the floor.” To make the trip into a purchase, assemble a working brief in advance:

- Supplier questions — capacity, export experience, markets, payment terms, samples, lead times.

- Legal entity check — name, address, licences; do not stop at a booth business card.
- Samples, specification, and inspection — lock acceptance criteria before any deposit.
- Full landed cost — product + logistics + duties + inspection + scrap/rework — before you pay a deposit.

When you should not go
- The product is already defined and you only need one or two commercial quotes.
- Your budget does not cover the trip plus samples, audit, inspection, and the first shipment.
- You have no brief, target price, acceptable MOQ, or selection criteria.
- Your category does not need on-site evaluation.
- You need to place an order immediately: Canton Fair is the start of a supplier funnel, not instant supply.
In those cases it is cheaper to close the task remotely or through a representative, and keep an on-site trip for the next cycle once the funnel is already built.
