About the city

Anshan is a prefecture-level city in central-southern Liaoning Province, China. It is one of China's traditional heavy industrial centers and is best known as the home of Ansteel Group, one of the country's largest steel producers.

The local economy is dominated by iron and steel, metallurgy, mining, machinery and equipment manufacturing, and the production of refractory materials. In recent years the city has also developed industrial parks and advanced processing alongside its core metal industries.
