About the city
Chengde is a prefecture-level city in northern Hebei Province, northeast of Beijing. It is best known as the site of the Qing imperial summer resort and the surrounding temple complex, which together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This cultural legacy shapes the city’s identity as a destination for heritage tourism, hospitality, and service industries.
Beyond tourism, Chengde has a regional economy that includes food processing, building materials, equipment manufacturing, and mining-related sectors. For business visitors, the city functions mainly as a secondary meeting and exhibition destination in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region, with a focus on cultural tourism promotion, ecological development, and regional trade.
Chengde’s role in trade fairs and conventions is growing, supported by improved transport links and its appeal as a venue for corporate events, incentive travel, and specialized industry exchanges connected to culture, tourism, and local manufacturing.
