About the city

Handan is a prefecture-level city in southern Hebei Province, China. It is a long-established industrial center in North China, with an economy driven mainly by iron and steel, metallurgy, building materials, chemicals, and related heavy manufacturing. The city also has trade and processing industries linked to agriculture and consumer goods, supported by its position in the Beijing–Guangzhou transport corridor.
