About the city
Ma'anshan is a prefecture-level city in the eastern Chinese province of Anhui, located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River. It borders the provincial capital Hefei to the northwest and the major city of Nanjing in neighboring Jiangsu Province to the east. The city administers three districts and two counties, with a population of over two million people.
Historically known as a steel and iron production center, Ma'anshan is home to the large Ma'anshan Iron & Steel Company, a major pillar of the local economy. In recent decades, the city has diversified into automotive manufacturing, machinery, electronics, and new materials. Its location along the Yangtze provides port facilities and industrial infrastructure, making it a key node in regional economic development.
For business travelers and trade fair organizers, Ma'anshan offers a growing convention and exhibition sector, supported by its strategic position between Hefei and Nanjing. The city's industries—especially steel, machinery, and advanced manufacturing—create opportunities for specialized trade fairs and B2B networking. With convenient railway connections, including high-speed rail, Ma'anshan is an accessible destination for regional and international business events.
