About the city

Shaoxing is a prefecture-level city in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, situated south of the Yangtze River Delta and southwest of the provincial capital Hangzhou. With a history spanning more than 2,500 years, it is renowned as one of the cradles of Yue culture and has long been a center of traditional craftsmanship, calligraphy, and classical scholarship. Today, Shaoxing administratively encompasses three urban districts, two county-level cities, and one county, forming an important node in the economic corridor connecting Hangzhou, Ningbo, and the broader coastal region.
